Join the Queen's Orchard team at the Maryland Renaissance Festival

Since 2008, Sir Amic’s Clay Kingdom has been delighting festivalgoers at the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville, Maryland, by providing a one‑of‑a‑kind “paint your own ceramics” experience. Guests of all ages create personalized keepsakes and lasting memories—guided by our fun and friendly team.

We are growing and seeking enthusiastic team members to help us during the 2025 Festival, from August 23rd through October 19th.

Our workplace is fast‑paced, creative, and fun, and we thrive in a team atmosphere where everyone works together to deliver remarkable guest experiences.

At Sir Amic’s, who you are matters more than what you know. We value positivity, teamwork, and reliability above all else. Skills can be taught—attitude and work ethic cannot.

Our team members wear many hats, each playing a vital role in keeping our creative experience running seamlessly. From welcoming guests and guiding them through the painting process to managing supplies, maintaining a clean and organized space, and ensuring every guest leaves with a creation they love, every role contributes to the magic we deliver.

Some of the tasks that you might be asked to perform include:

  • Engage and converse with passersby to spark interest and invite them to explore the painting experience.

  • Welcome guests to the booth and explain how the paint‑your‑own ceramics process works.

  • Answer questions and assist guests with selecting and purchasing ceramics pieces.

  • Operate the register, take payments (cash, credit cards, mobile payments), and issue receipts.

  • Guide guests through painting techniques and offer assistance when needed.

  • Keep tables, brushes, paints, and supplies clean, stocked, and organized throughout the day.

  • Safely transfer painted ceramics to drying and packaging areas.

  • Maintain the overall cleanliness of the booth and storage areas.

  • Remove trash, flatten cardboard, and properly handle recyclable materials.

  • Assist with closing duties, including cleaning, securing supplies, and balancing cash drawers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a smooth, enjoyable guest experience.

Benefits:

  • Employees at our season event will have first option to work at future special events or permanent locations.

  • In addition to hourly wages, all team members earn a share of tips that are collected.

  • We provide complimentary lunch every day for the team, plus supply free snacks and drinks.

  • Flexible schedules which allow optional time-off to attend the event.

  • Discounted tickets for family and friends.

  • Potential for bonus payments when the team exceeds their performance goals.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Our team plays the role of merchants in a 16th century English village during the reign of King Henry the 8th. Because of this, all team members are required to wear clothing which aligns with the time period and either period-specific footwear or simple black or dark brown shoes. Additionally, they are expected to make a reasonable effort to converse in the Olde English dialect. (Don't worry - we will help you with both costume selection and speaking, it's fun and easy!)

Our Mission

We aim to set the standard for festival creativity by inspiring artists of all ages, nurturing confidence through hands-on painting experiences, and fostering a joyful, welcoming atmosphere, while helping guests create lasting memories and unique keepsakes to treasure for years to come.

Our Vision

We aspire to be the heart of the festival, not just for our craft but for the joy we bring. We want our tables full and our laughter loud, not because painting is hard, but because creating with us is irresistibly fun. Our ultimate goal is to redefine how guests see and experience art—showing that anyone, of any age, can create something beautiful and memorable.

Our Values

Since our family opened the business in 2008, we've been guided by core values that have shaped our identity and operations...

Creativity: We awaken the artist within, helping each soul find joy in crafting their own unique keepsake.

Merriment: Laughter and delight fill our kingdom, making every visit a cheerful celebration of art and fellowship.

Inclusivity: Be ye child or elder, skilled painter or shy beginner—our doors and brushes are ever open to thee.

Craftsmanship: We provide fine materials and gentle guidance, ensuring every creation be worthy of display and remembrance.

Memories: We cherish not just what is painted, but the moments shared, leaving guests with treasures both tangible and heartfelt.
